Laddsworth Primary School would like to congratulate the following pupils on being selected for the KwaZulu-Natal Inland Hockey Teams.

KZN Squash Team

Laddsworth pupils took part in the KwaZulu-Natal Schools Closed Squash Tournament, at the end of May 2021 in Pietermaritzburg. This event was used to select players for the KwaZulu-Natal Interprovincial Tournament.
Congratulations to the following players on making the KZN Teams. They will participate in the 2021 Inter-provincial Tournament.

KZN Midlands Youth Ballet 2021

Jemma Pitman, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, has successfully auditioned for the KZN Midlands Youth Ballet Company. Jemma, who dances with Midlands Dance Theatre Centre, attended auditions on Saturday, 8 May 2021. She will attend weekly classes with specialists teaching various styles of dance.
Laddsworth is very proud of Jemma’s achievement.

 

Artistic Gymnastics

Laddsworth Primary School pupils, Hannah Kitching, Grade 1, and Sarah Day, Grade 3, participated in the Pro Gymnastics Challenge in Pinetown on Saturday, 15 May 2021.
Hannah achieved a Silver Medal in the Under 7 age group.
Sarah Day achieved a Silver Medal in the Under 9 age group.
Laddsworth is very proud of our fine Gymnasts!

 

Quarry School Expo 15 May 2021

Laddsworth attended the Quarry School Expo on 15 May 2021. The colourful and vibrant Laddsworth stand was front and center and generated a lot of interest. Our Laddsworth pupils proudly represented their school in their various sport and school uniforms. The Laddsworth branded blue and yellow balloons are made of latex and are 100% biodegradable.

 

KZN Irish Feis

Laddsworth Grade 3 pupil, Alison Rennie, competed in the KwaZulu-Natal Irish Dance Feis held in Pinetown on Saturday, 8 May 2021, which included dancers from KwaZulu-Natal, Gqeberha (PE), Cape Town and Johannesburg. Alison won Gold Medals in both the Reel and the Hornpipe dances, as well as Silver Medals in the Light Jig and Single Jig dances. She also competed in the Preliminary Championship Section and won Gold Medals in both rounds, giving her the overall win of the Priomh Comórtas Level 2.

Laddsworth is very proud of Alison’s achievements, and wishes her all the best for the South African Irish Dance Championship, in which she will be competing in September this year.

 

uMgungundlovu Hockey Selection

Congratulations to the Laddsworth boys and girls who were recently selected to represent our uMgungundlovu District hockey teams at the Provincial Festival on Saturday, 15 May and Sunday, 16 May 2021.

We are extremely proud of these boys and girls and wish them an enjoyable tournament this weekend.

 

Rhythmic Gymnastics

Lily Smit, a Grade 6 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed in her first Rhythmic Gymnastics competition of the year on Saturday, 8 May 2021 in Durban, hosted by Ocean Rhythmic Gymnastics Club.

Lily represented Glenwood Gymnastics Club and performed her free dance routine. She was placed first in Level 4 Under 13 and was awarded a Gold Medal, based on her score.

 

Junior Swimmer of the Year

Amahle Mhlongo, a Grade 4 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School was named Junior Swimmer of the year at the Penguins Swimming Club Awards Evening in April.

 

South African Canoe Sprint Championships

Carter Bloxham, a Grade 4 pupil at Laddsworth Primary School, competed at the South African Schools and Canoe Sprint Championships from 24 to 26 April 2021 at Ntshongweni Dam in Durban. Carter excelled, even though it was his first attempt at the event, in which over 270 paddlers from across South Africa took part.
He achieved the following results in the Under 10 Boys Category:
1000m - 3rd Place
500m - 2nd Place
200m - 4th Place

Carter scored points for his school as well and Laddsworth finished 17th in the Co-Ed Primary Schools section.
